fiona smilleyI moved to the South West from London, but I have a strong connection to Exeter as my father was one of the very few international students in Exeter University in the 1950s. He studied here and then returned to Uganda where I was born and brought up. Although we have come along way from the stories I used to hear about my dad's time here all those years ago, I do recognise that we have a long way to go before we can truly embrace and learn from different cultures and learn from each other. As a cultural champion I can offer an insight into African Cooking, arts and crafts, and story telling.
