Working together to bring about positive change and take control of our own lives.

Group pic 1 cropThe Global Centre provides an important focal point for individuals and groups in Devon who are making links with, learning about or campaigning on behalf of communities in the south/developing world.

Devon is one of the largest counties in the country. It is predominantly rural and there are few people from black and minority ethnic (BME) background.

This means that children and adults have very limited opportunities to experience other cultures in their everyday life - a multi-cultural experience and a sense of being part of multi-cultural Britain, does not always reach people.

The Global Centre aims to provide the learning opportunities, insights and experience which can help to fill that gap.

The Global Centre is run by Devon Development Education, one of many Development Education Centres in the UK which seek to advance the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to create a more just and sustainable world. Groups and organisations which have supported DDE and the Global Centre now and in the past include: The Heritage Lottery Fund, the Co-operative Group, the European Commission, The Diocese of Exeter, the Department for International Development, Oxfam, UNICEF, Christian Aid, Devon County Council, Exeter City Council and The Islamic Centre for the South West.

Global Book Club, World at Lunch, Town Meets Gown and Devon Globe Trotters.
