Join us for an inspiring journey through Nigeria’s past — from the great kingdoms and societies that existed before colonial rule, through the British colonial era, to independence and modern Nigeria.

Event Highlights Include:

• Historical Presentation Explore important moments, people, kingdoms, and events that have shaped Nigeria’s history and identity.
• Traditional Talking Drum Performance Experience the beauty of Nigerian cultural music and discover how the talking drum has been used for communication, storytelling, celebrations, and preserving heritage across generations.
• Cultural Entertainment Enjoy traditional music, cultural expressions, and a celebration of Nigeria’s diverse heritage.
• History Discussion & Community Conversation An opportunity to learn, share knowledge, ask questions, and connect with others interested in Nigerian history and culture.
• A special historical presentation on the 1897 British Invasion of the Benin Kingdom will also be explored as part of the programme.

This event is part of DDE’s Celebrate Exeter’s Diver-city project and is open to everyone. Nigerians, friends of Nigeria, families, students, history enthusiasts, and members of the wider Exeter community.
